Stop ruining old shortcuts on product upgrade

I just upgraded Snagit 2018 and all of the shortcuts that I had copied (like to the start bar) became invalid.  The old shortcuts give the error, "You can only do this with a product that is installed." which is weird.  The old shortcuts now all have a blank "Target".  I assume this means that you changed some GUID values in the registry with the new update.

Please don't blow all my shortcuts when I upgrade!

Same goes for taskbar entries.

I have apps that upgrade perfectly, maintaining the function of the shortcuts flawlessly, and those that crap all over them.  Sadly, SnagIt is in the latter camp.

Sadly, SnagIt is in the latter camp.

Ha, that's an understatement.

I like the automatic numbering Step Tool. Great feature.

However, it's flat in it's color scheme and really looks dull overall. Dull and boring is a good fit for some things but not all.

I created my own Step tools for SnagIt 12. You can only have 4.  I modified the Teardrop/circle pointed or whatever they are called and created a couple from scratch.
You need the "Glassy" effect or something within SnagIt 12 to make these Steps look good.

So I prefer to keep SnagIt 12 installed because starting with version 13 "Glassy" is gone and these Steps pretty much lost their appeal.

My Point???
Well, Starting with version 13. When you update SnagIt 13 or 2018.
The installer likes to install the files in SnagIt 12's Program Files. SnagIt 12 becomes SnagIt 13 or 2018. It depends on what program you just updated.

I got tired uninstalling and reinstalling 12 with every update 13 and now 2018. I had 12 installed recently and the latest 2018 update broke it again.
