Have you tried disabling GPU acceleration?  See if that helps.

What type of content are you trying to edit? Are they Camtasia Studio recording files or are they file from a different source? What framerate were they captured in? Are the files stored on the local C:\ drive or are they stored on a network drive, external hard drive, or in a synchronized folder (such as DropBox or OneDrive)? Does this happen with all projects or just one in particular?

Gopro 4K camera records stored local at C. The behaviour is the same also with iPhone recorded videos. With Snagit captures a bit better. Performance issue? Dell Lattitude nb. Or memory issue? Just few tens if GB memory free. Latest Camtasia sw. Any other idea? Thx & br, Martin

While the behavior is not typical of Camtasia with some files, DSLR, DV Cameras, and Smartphones record extremely inefficient videos (their bitrates range 25MBps to 45MBps; GoPro cameras can have bitrates upwards of 100MBps) where Camtasia is designed to edit efficient videos (10MBps-12MBps videos). You will need to transcode all of your source files before bringing them into Camtasia for Editing. Fortunately transcoding is generally a speedy process and it is free if you use a tool called HandBrake. We have a download link and a tutorial video on how to transcode using HandBrake at the bottom of the following article: https://support.techsmith.com/entries/22823787

I did not realize you were working with 4K footage.

Camtasia can only edit video at 2048 X 2048 Pixels Max Resolution. It can only handle frame rates up to 30fps MAX.

Converting 4K footage will not produce a good looking video using Camtasia. You can Import it into the editor, but the program will downsize and re-sample the footage until it looks bad.

Get a video editing program that can handle 4K, which is 4096 X 2304.
