The dark gray background color of Camtasia 9 is generally nice.  However the area around the Canvas should be able to be modified by the user.  I am editing a Camtasia project which has a lot of back and dark grey background from the site I was recording.  It is very hard to see where the video ends and the Camtasia Canvas starts. If I were able to change the color of the canvas area this would make my editing much easier.

Also in general, today's multimedia programs the issue of accessibility is important -- for vision impaired people and people who just prefer to change the appearance of their graphics program's interface.  For example, Adobe Premiere lets you easily change the color of the UI.  Camtasia should add this function.  Thanks, Rowby

I complained about this on DAY ONE of using Camtasia 9.  I was told by a TechSmith employee that the black UI is "more professional looking" and "in keeping with black interfaces used by most, if not all, modules in the Adobe Creative Suite".

The only problem is that Adobe allows users to select a different UI color scheme with 2-3 clicks of the mouse.

The response I gave to TechSmith was that I don't think that the people who watch the output that we produce with Camtasia know much less care about how "professional" the Camtasia interface looks.  The only thing our customers care about is what the output that we produce with Camtasia looks like and not the Camtasia interface.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for TechSmith to correct this and the mountain of other serious problems that Camtasia 9 dumps on those who are unfortunate enough not to be able to use Camtasia 8.6 which is a much better product.

That would be sad.  I purchased C9 but won't install until the UI is made usable.  My vision is such that low-contrast, small fonts, etc. make it very difficult to use.  Even with CS8 I often use Magnify.exe to read some information.  It may be I'm stuck with CS8 forever or change to another product once CS8 is no longer viable.  Again, sad.
