Suggestion on using external camera on a mac (Camtasia 3), rather than inbuilt camera

Hey All,

I'm looking gat getting better video quality and more flexible video angles by using an external camera, like the logitech C922 pro.

Having read a few recent posts, it seems that there is issues with pixelation etc.

Is this true?
Are there reliable external cameras i could use for Cam3 and a mac?
Does the video feed go directly into Cam 3 (along with screen recording) as it does with inbuilt camera, or are they recorded as seperate files, which required import etc?

Cheers in advance?

Carlo

I have the logitech C922 pro, it goes directly into camtasia 3 on the mac. I haven't got it working in full hd though. (it does with quicktime recording but not with camtasia)

Thanks Richard, so it appears in Camtasia as a separate video file in the 'media' section, along with your screen recording?

does its record in 720p? thats likely to be OK for me

Cheers

Right now there are no cameras that will improve the quality in Camtasia. I believe the product team is looking into this, but for now your best bet is to record the video in another program like quicktime and then import it into camtasia.

(note it will be easier if you also record the audio in quicktime, so the sound is in sync with the video of you talking)

Same problem as you Carlo !

If you want ot record video + Screen at the same time, support told me :
No Logitech 920 930
No Interface
No Thunderbolt

To be clear : No quality !!

By the way, no color correction when you edit, no white balance...
Camtesia is the best for annotations and behaviors, but the worst about video...

Actually I record my courses with its Mac competitor, and edit with camtesia because all my material (intro, outro etc...) was created into Camtesia 3 before I know Camtesia 3 decide to stop thunderbolt !
How could I expect such a backward step ?
Of course quality (and workflow) is suffering of that situation.

Check that : Import same file into Camtesia and its Mac competitor, don't touch anything and compare quality. Clearly Camtesia is not focus to video !

So you are telling me that in version 2 I could record my external HD camera using my BlackMagic Intensity Extreme and now in version 3 that option is no longer and i can only use the internal camera on my MBP?  this does not seem right. Why is this? seems backwards.
