Suggestions for SnagIt

When comparing SnagIt to other screen capture applications, I would suggest adding some features that SnagIt is lacking.

1. A pixel ruler would be exceptionally helpful.

2. The ability to sample a color and get the html or rgb formula would be helpful (aside from hovering around with a temporary formula pop-up with the dropper tool).

3. Also, might I suggest the ability to manipulate the angle of a shape/line by typing in coordinates.

4. Multi-color fill with a gradient option

5. A birds eye view tool that would enable  the user to select a portion of the capture and show it in a zoomed view on top of the original layer.

6. The ability to apply a filter to the capture (e.g., preset tones, 3D manipulation, shadow of shape relating to a designated reference point).

7. The ability to add text to a shape/arrow/line without the second step of adding a textbox.

PicPick recently added several features to their application that are highly useful that you might consider implementing as well.

This list is a set of useful features that would extend to SnagIt's ability to annotate.

As for the color discovery option, it can be obtained by importing/capturing an image with the required color and then use a SnagIt "eyedropper" to discover the RGB numbers, but that is a slow process.  Instead, I use a free tool from ICONICO named ColorPic.  http://tinyurl.com/jkwr5

I've used this tool for a long time.  It works well and allows a user to build a library of colors with the color information.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea/feature request!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the first, where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!
