Hi all;
With Adobe’s retirement of Flash fast approaching, TechSmith understands the challenge that has put on Flash-based content uploaded by our users. Our first step has been with TechSmith Capture, to create a new, modern application for recording the screen in the industry-standard format of h.264 MP4 videos and at the same time we are providing new capability, like longer videos, webcam recording, system sound recording, and the latest operating system support.

However, we have many users who pay us to host their content via our Screencast Pro service, and we want to try to help preserve the content that is being used. While a potentially difficult and costly effort, we feel that we owe it to our loyal customers to help out with this problem. So, early in 2020, we will be attempting to convert recent (viewed in the last year) SWF Flash videos to MP4 for our Screencast Pro customers.This conversion won’t require any effort on your part; it should happen in place (meaning the URL should not change), and will preserve the old SWF file as a backup.

The amount of soon-to-be-outdated SWF content uploaded by our many, many free users is daunting, which is why we are focusing only on our subscribers’ content. However, we thought it best to be transparent by letting you know about it in advance in case there were any free non-subscribers who wanted to start their subscription before this time.

Feel free to reach out to Robert R. at r.risdon@techsmith.com if you have any questions.
