Synchronous caption text typing and playing in Camtasia 9 Windows

I remember being able to type caption text while playing the caption in Camtasia 8 Windows, but this doesn't seem to work now. Am I nuts?

If this was changed, I suggest we bring the behavior back. I work with captions a lot; in fact, almost 90% of the videos I create have captions. There usually isn't a script to work with, so I replace the text of the Speech-to-Text captions on the fly. I'm a fast typist, but having to wait to display what I've typed until the caption play is complete is slowing me down significantly.

Thanks, kayakman! I'm not seeing the same thing here. Once I start playing the caption ("enter" while captions is open), I can type, but the text does not show until the caption is done playing. I don't seem to have a problem deleting while the caption is playing, but typing is totally blind. I'm a touch-typist, so typing blind isn't a terrible issue, but having to wait until the new text is displayed is driving my bonkers. Maybe I'm typing too fast (I haven't tried slowing down), but I'm keeping up with the speaker pretty well.

Thanks, again. I'll have to investigate why mine isn't working the same way.

I didn't notice kayakman's video at first and created my own.

It looks like you are the only one experiencing this problem between the three of us.
It's probably a good  time to contact Tech Support and see if they have any suggestions.

I would try disabling GPU acceleration as well. Maybe that will help?

I'm thinking your system may be missing a driver update or something along that line. It's probably something simple to correct.

Turning off the hardware acceleration didn't make a difference, Joe. On to Tech Support. Thanks for the investigation and suggestions!

I noticed in both Mary's and Joe's videos that the caption played through just 1 time and stopped?

is that so?

for me, starting play USING THE PLAY BUTTON will cause the caption to continuously play over and over until I stop with the button?

just tested ... starting with enter key will only play caption 1 time; using the button will cause caption to play over and over until stopped with button

never noticed that behavior difference before ...

The reason for two playback choices makes a lot of sense.
If you had to listen to the dialog repeated over and over again it could get very obnoxious.

On the other hand, if you cannot remember what's just been said. Looping the audio could be very helpful.

Mine does only play once, which is perfect for the way I work with it. It's easy to just press Enter again if I need it.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the 1st of the month (this month is slightly different, due to the holidays) where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!
