I get the attached error box when I try and record a video with system audio in Snag It or the studio for 2018 Camtasia. It never worked when I bought it either not new problem. Just finally decided to investigate it. Windows 10 tried on two computers (both gaming) and it fails. Tried stopping all the external audio programs on my computer still does not work.

Boot your system and before launching Camtasia, check device manager and make sure everything is working (no yellow or red marks).

If none go to the control panel and "Sounds". The "Playback" tab will list available playback devices, disable any that you'll never need or don't know about (virtual). ID & set a default device.

On the "Recording" tab again disable any that you'll never need or don't know about. Then ID and set a default device.

Launch Camtasia. What recording devices does it see?
