Can't paste image into MS Teams if capture canvas is increased from original size.

If I take a region capture, I can copy and paste it into MS teams without a problem. If I increase the canvas capture area, or if it gets automatically increased as I put some markup/arrow/text that increases it it will not paste into a Teams conversation. I end up having to paste it into Outlook/Word and then copy that into teams.

Here is an image explaining it:

Have you tried to "re-size" [Image tab, Resize] in the Snagit it editor? Note: If the little lock is white, proportionality is automatic, if black, you can stretch the image in X  or Y.
It's an awkward interface IMO, so if you were to ask TS for a mouse control (at corners, shift-move is proportional, anything else changes size in X, Y or both), I'd vote for and I many many others would too

Re-sizing the image is fine but it isn't an objective I'm trying to achieve. It is the canvas that I want to be able to be increased and still be able to paste it into MS Teams without having to do a double hop into an email and then into Teams.

To be fair I'm not sure if it is a Snagit issue or a Teams issue, there is a MS Teams uservoice posted here: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/34886362-paste-from-snag-it-not-working. I can confirm the other mention in that link that it works if I don't use a transparent canvas.

Are you able to (or have you tried) clicking and dragging the image from the Recents tray in SnagIt to the MS Teams?

I hadn't tried that, but it doesn't work for any images (even the ones I can paste) but that may be more of an internal environmental issue as that attempts to 'upload' the file probably to SharePoint online or Onedrive which our IT teams don't allow yet.

This is an image that I can't drag from recent to teams.

This is one that does work (previously I didn't think any did)

Interesting! Thanks for sharing those.

Earlier you mentioned something about transparent backgrounds being an issue. This makes me wonder if the one that fails has a transparent background. And if it does, would it suddenly begin working if you configure perhaps a white background? (Image > Canvas Color)

Changing to a white background canvas seems to be important for Ctrl-C Ctrl-V into Teams, but doesn't seem to be impacting dragging from recent.

I noticed the same behavior. When I switch from a transparent background to a white background I can paste images easily using CTRL+C and CTRL-V. But I would very much love to keep transparent backgrounds.

It must have something to do with the way SnagIt is creating transparency, because I used to work with Greenshot, where you also get a transparent background when applying torn-edges - and those captures can be pasted into Teams without any issue.

I ran into it with Confluence as well which I see was reported previously here: https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/cant-past-images-in-confluence-from-snagit

Based on the response to that thread I guess the sentiment is this is a 'destination' issue (ie: Teams and Confluence) and not a SnagIt issue. That also seems to be supported by the fact that it never fails to an app like MS Outlook or MS Word which would suggest those handle the transparent paste in ways Confluence and MS Teams are not.
