TechSmith Academy Certification

I've been taking TechSmith Academy classes. Are there any plans for a sort of "certification" for someone who completes all the classes? I ask this because, at my company, certifications are kind of a big deal. Hey, everybody likes a shiny piece of paper to hang on the wall. I'd love to see something like that implemented and hey, it's basically free advertising (coworkers see it hanging from cube/office wall and ask about the product).

I am not sure if they plan on offering a Certificate for completing the TechSmith Academy or not. However, I do know that if you have the Maintenance Agreement they have a Camtasia Certification. The link is below:

Take a look there and thanks for posting and sharing this Idea. Have a great day/night.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for expressing your interest in an Academy certificate. It's definitely something we're considering doing. The Academy has a broader scope of knowledge, so I'm trying to make sure whatever we put together makes sense. I'm open to feedback on what you'd like to see - and what would both make the certificates worthwhile and meaningful, while not being overly cumbersome. Perhaps a badge-like system vs a full on certificate/certification.

Paul and Fred are both right about Camtasia Certification. If you are using Camtasia, it's possible to become certified. It's a rigorous course with a lot of content, but anyone that goes through it and applies what they learn will be able to use Camtasia well. It's is only available with the Camtasia Maintenance package at this time - which also gives access to priority support, and upgrades to major versions while maintenance is active (e.g. if the next major version is released while you have an active maintenance contract, you get that version without additional cost). It's worth checking to see if your organization has maintenance if you're using Camtasia.

Hope this helps, and please, if you have ideas for what you'd like to see for Certificates from TechSmith Academy, please let me know!'

Are there any considerations for broadening the scope of this? For example, making the certification available separate from being tied to the maintenance plan? Possibly for an additional fee?

Hi Matt,

We have the Maintenace agreement (looking forward to Camtasia 2019). I looked at that and that is one option. I do like your badges idea as well.

Thanks!

Hi Rick,

At this point, we are keeping Certification as part of the Maintenance package. There are no current plans to separate certification out from the Maintenance. I've heard this request a few times before, and definitely something I'm keeping an eye on.

Thanks for the suggestion, and I'll keep it in mind for future conversations. For the immediate future, I don't expect the path to Certification access to change.

Thanks,
Matt
