Windows 10 is here!  We’ve completed our first round of testing with the release version, and would like to outline what we’ve found.  We’re working on these issues now, and plan to have a release that addresses them in the coming weeks. Until then, here are some things that we wanted to make you aware of:

Snagit:
  • Cross hairs snap to windows that do not exist / are not visible.
  • Unable to share to universal app versions of outputs, such as OneNote.
  • Unable to execute a scrolling capture within universal apps, including the Edge browser.

Camtasia:
  •  When running on certain versions of Windows 10, the following error can be received: “This application has failed to start because WMVCore.DLL was not found”.  This error can be resolved by following the instructions in our Knowledge Base article at https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/203730038.

Jing:

  • Cross hairs snap to windows that do not exist / are not visible.

Morae:
  • At times the Morae recorder may hang during launch on Windows 10.  While it may not occur in every case, we do not recommend Morae customers upgrade to Windows 10 at this time.
  • Observer issues if browsing with the name field empty.
  • The mouse tail is not in sync with the recording and at times is not present at all.
  • Unable to capture web events from the Edge browser.

Are you seeing different issues that we should know about?

Our testing primarily focused on the Pro edition; are you on Home, Education, or Enterprise?

Please tell us what you are seeing below, or start a new conversation.  Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I have noticed that the mouse will jump about 30 to 160 pixels then jump back. Specifically, when the mouse is resting, it will jump to a point that the mouse previously was. For example, on an x-y grid, let's assume that the top left corner of the screen is the 0x 0y point. if I moved my mouse from 0x 0y to 600x -600y (assuming the user moves the mouse in a perfect line) the mouse will:
1. rest on 600x -600y for ~2-3 seconds
2. jump to ~ 560x -560y for one second
3. jump back to 600x -600y and continue to rest

This is a true pain in the rear to edit out. In a five minute video I will see 10-15 of these types of "jumps"

Has this been identified? Is this being fixed?

Update: this issue only occurs when running a proprietary software built on the .NET framework. My guess is that the display of the software is using the dedicated Video Memory to display fields etc. therefore less is made available for Camtasia Recording.
