How do I take a screenshot? I'm on Chrome, using a MacBook Pro, OS 10.6.8.
I right-click in the browser window, select "Capture with Snagit" and nothing happens.
I open the Snagit app and there are now captures in the library because I haven't been successful at capturing any screenshots.
I've purchased and am an experienced user of the regular Snagit for Mac, so I am familiar with taking screenshots.

Please help. Thank you.

Hi Monika,

Thanks for the question. Have you only tried to capture with the right-click option? Have you tried clicking on the Snagit icon next to the Chrome address bar?



Either way, it sounds like something is going wrong. Could you also tell us what version of Chrome you're running? You can find that with the "About Google Chrome" option in the Chrome menu.

It's also possible that you didn't accept the permissions (or they got lost in the process). Trashing the app and extension and then re-adding and accepting the permissions should fix that.

I am having trouble with sound it is always so quiet and i want to fix it is it meant to be like that? if so can you add a feature so you can hear the computers audio when you record

my snagit wont record.... it says "techsmith is recording" but I cant save it or see my recordings.....

I have a similar question, in that I only want to snap one shot from a video, but even with right-click and all, Snagit insists on capturing the entire video. I realize the controls are covering more options ow, but how did they get to be so much more difficult to use than your original product, which I used professionally to build training guides for several years.

I can't give Snagit access to my Gdrive... I've tried logging out of chrome (all of my accounts) several times and yet I still keep getting the same error notice.

How to I stop the annoying TechSmith SnagIt Google pop up asking permission to manage youtube, Google Drive, goo.gl short URLs? I don't want SnagIt managing this stuff.  I keep entering cancel only to get a reappearance of thi9s pop-up.

Hi James,

Try uninstalling the app, logging in to your Chrome account and click on the Snagit for Chrome extension. We released an update last night that will allow you to do screen captures, annotate images, screen recordings and create GIFs all from the extension.

I am on a Macbook Pro,  version 10.1.  I can do all functions with the exception of during a video it is not recording the audio.  Please help.

Have you tried Clicking the Icon, than clicking the microphone button?
You have to allow the Microphone thing to work, so a link might pop up

Yep - Tried clicking on the mic.  Record all the time from Quicktime with audio and no issues... any other suggestions?

I just did a 24min video capture, it said the video was syncing, but then the window closed and in there is nothing in the TechSmith folder on my drive. Does that mean it's lost forever?

What profile did you select, video or link to video? If you selected video, the file should be stored in the TechSmith folder. If you selected link to video, I am not sure where they go. I just recorded a video using the latter method and am searching to find where it went also.

I can't seem to get it to work any more. I'm not sure if it was upgrading to Win 10, or the latest Chrome update, or a combination of both, but it won't do anything when I click it. I'd had this happen previously, but it always started working after deactivating the reactivating the extension, or restarting Chrome. Neither is working anymore. :(

Hi tevya,

We haven't seen anything like this here, unfortunately. If it's not too much trouble, you might try the extra step of removing and reinstalling the extension and let me know if that takes care of it. 

Do you know what version of Chrome you're running? I know that Google rolls out Chrome updates in waves so we might not have the freshest one yet. 

We'll continue to test this and I'll post here if we uncover anything. Sorry you've been having trouble with the extension.

I'll check versions when I'm on that computer next. But I actually did try removing it entirely then reinstalling the extension, but didn't mention it above. That didn't work either.

try closing all the tabs the video option where you choose the screen to record could just be underneath all the tabs it happened to me before

Same problem on a Mac. Nothing is working.
I even uninstalled Chrome AND extensions.
Video will not record. Seems to work but when STOP SHARING is selected, nothing happens. Video is not saved, or syn'd and does not appear in Drive.
I used to train educators on how to use this product - thought it was great!. Now...not so much!

I've started using Screencastify for video. I still have Snaggit for screenshots, but Screencastify has all the options and features that Snaggit doesn't (including the super-helpful pause option). Great UI as well.

I did a video using my Chrome extension (entire screen) and everything worked as it should. However, when viewing the playback my video looks "fuzzy". When I record using my SnagIt tool and upload to my screencast.com account it is a good quality video view. What are the options to make sure the playback will produce a crisp / clear video from the Chrome extension?

I didn't catch during the installation of Save to Google Drive what the hot key is to activate it. This is important to know when create instructional guides and it is desirable to include the mouse cursor in the capture.

I could always uninstall and reinstall but am hoping somebody is actually watching for posts here.

The hot keys available for Snagit for Chrome are



These can be found by going to the end of the chrome://extensions page, clicking on Keyboard shortcuts link and finding TechSmith Snagit (Extension)
