Text callout zoom smoothness

I'm trying to create a zoom effect text. I thought creating it using a text callout and using a zoom would be easy and work great. The problem is the result is not smooth. I can create the effect I want by creating a .png file of the text in Snagit and bringing the image into Camtasia, but it takes much more time. Is there something I'm missing about getting a text callout to zoom smoothly? The video I link to is an example of both methods. https://www.screencast.com/t/izPtjuYhy

I hope you're using Camtasia 2020. Its a bit easier in 2020.
If you are, you'll want to apply a scale animation to the text.

Before you do anything. Right click the text callout and group it. Yes, you can group it to itself.
Then apply a custom scale animation to the text. Use linear easing. Done.

If your using 2019 or earlier. You would create a transparent callout the size of the text callout.Group them, and apply a scale animation.

Joe, thank you so much for the quick response. After digging into the issue a bit more, I discovered that some changes to my approach did the trick.
  1. Using a non-transparent text callout instead of a transparent text callout. My canvas was black and my text was white so I was using a transparent text callout. Changing the callout to one with a background really helped.
  2. Creating a group out of the single callout (your suggestion).
  3. Applying the animation only after the group was applied (your suggestion).
