The project file cannot be opened. It says it's not a Camtasia file but... it is.

  Hey there! I am using Camtasia version 8.5.1.
So I have seen others post about this issue. Yet, they all had these issues fixed by changing a piece of code saying src="" or upgrading to the latest software. I've upgraded to the latest version of Camtasia to see if it would fix this but I've had no luck.

See, I was trying to render a video I just finished, but it wouldn't render! So I decided to cut it up into three parts and have those render individually, guessing it was because my computer couldn't handle it all at once. But after the first piece rendered it was quite late, so I turned my computer off to finish the next day and then the next day it wouldn't open! And now I am here.

Kojo did you get this problem resolved and if so what was the problem ? I ask for the reason if other users have this same issue they may have a place to start looking for the solution. Or Casey Wright if you can answer this question.

Thanks for posting and have a great day/night.

Here is something I have tried before to go around this problem, although may not be the best way.

1. Think about dividing the original project say in three parts. Cut the 2nd and 3rd part out and save the project with say Project1 part 1. Render  just that part

2. Again from the original project delete parts 1 and 3, leaving only part 2. Save it say: Project1 part 2. and render part 2 only.

3. one more time from the original project delete parts 1 and 2. And save and render only part 3.

4. Put together the three parts rendered in one new project. and Voila! Make sure you name the project other than the original in case you need to come back to it.

I have done it and I have been able to go around the problem.

Good luck

Hi Shelly;
For these types of issues it will be best to open a support ticket; have you done so yet?
