Where does Camtasia store temp files? I had a crash!

I'd really like to know where Camtasia saves the videos.
I just recorded a bit, but the recorder crashed shortly after I stopped the recording.
Google does not want to reveal a thing about this issue.

You can check the temp directory where the AVI would be stored.

Click Start...type %temp% in the Search field...and hit Enter. This will take you to your temp folder. Sort the contents by Date Modified and look for a folder named Camrec. Inside that folder should be an AVI file.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

For Camtasia 6 and 7:

We can check the temp directory where the AVI would be stored.

Click Start and type %temp% and hit enter. This will take you to your temp folder. Sort the contents by Date Modified and look for a folder named Camrec. Inside that folder should be an AVI file.

That should help out, but if you have further questions, check out our Support Article:

considering a recording in a few minutes can reach ~600MB. In my case, it should be some ~Gigas, but where can it store the temp recording?? how can I recover it?

I've found my AVI file and what looks like a sound file but the AVI doesn't work. Do I need to import that media and then view it in Camtasia? I guess I'd probably have to do the same with audio.

Same problem with Camtasia 7 in Windows 8, but there is no folder "camrec" in the temp folder. Nor is there any avi or camrec file there. Where else could it have been stored?

So where is the answer TechSmith? Is it too much to ask for someone to answer this question? I just recorded something that was very important, got to studio where it asked me the stupid size question (shouldn't it default to the recorded size!?!), I answered it and it crashed. No movie to be found anywhere. No recovery (that I have experienced many times before)... Oh well, back to the drawing board...

Where is my recording?  I had made a beautiful recording of my lecture, and it crashed when I submitted it. Then it asked to recover. It successfully recovered it (it took a long time - it was a 2 hour recording). Then I tried to submit again. It crashed again and asked to recover, but I HIT THE CONTINUE RECORDING BUTTON BY ACCIDENT AND IT DISAPPEARED! Why is there no way to find it?

if it still exists, you need to look in the directory where Recorder stores its temporary files; see Recorder's tools/options menu

I guess I should have pointed out that I am using Camtasia Relay. It's not the same as the full version. So there is no tools/options menu. But the shared server folder on my machine where they are supposed to go is empty. I did a test and got it to crash again, and the test files were in that folder. So I am pretty sure my lecture is gone. I don't understand why, if I don't say "delete", something I record and was able to preview would disappear. And it was not uploaded to the Techsmith site. I did check there. Thanks for your help though.
