Thumbnails not updating in Snagit 2018

Is there a way to force Snagit 2018 to refresh it's thumbnails? I had to reinstall Snagit on my loaner Macbook Pro (my piece of %$@! Macbook Pro is in for repairs again) and since I reinstalled, Snagit is erratic at best at creating thumbnails.

I should mention that I manually backed up and restored the .snagproj files from my the other laptop. Snagit created thumbnails for a random 10-20% of the images. It also is not creating thumbnails for new captures, although if I use the built in Mac screen capture and send it to Snagit, Snagit always creates a thumbnail.

I can't express how my I hate the stupidity of those .snagproj files. I looked inside - it's literally a PNG with a little bit of meta-data at the beginning. Just use frickin PNGs and build thumbnails for a folder when you browse it.

Hi Barry,

This was a problem introduced in macOS 10.13.4. We are working to get a fix out soon. As for the thumbnails, we do use a png, but our method of extracting that for the thumbnails was broken by the macOS 10.13.4 update. Thanks for understanding and I will report back when our fix is live.

Is this the same issue happening in Library view? See S logo instead of image? This just started happening a few days ago.

Thanks Luke, I too have this issue, it shows up for me in my "Snagit Library" in the snagit app.

Hi,

Sorry, I must have posted about this in another thread. This issue is fixed in our 2018.1.2 update.

Hello,

I'm not sure about anyone else, but this problem has *not* been solved for me. It's very frustrating. I don't know if you can tell from the image below, but the "about" window says: Version 2018.1.2 (90438). When I capture an image, the thumbnail displays correctly. But when I make changes to an image (for example, by cropping it, which I do all the time) the image no longer displays in the thumbnail and I just get the Snagit "S" placeholder.

Sincerely,
Gregory K

Follow-up:

Once I restarted my machine, all the thumbnail images reappeared. So it *is* working now.

Thanks!

Hi Matt,

If you're comfortable running Terminal commands, you can run qlmanage -r to reset macOS's QuickLook cache. If not (or if it doesn't fix it), you can open a ticket with our Tech Support team and they can help you get this working again.
