very frequently, I'm editing a video and i want a 10 second section in the middle to be faster/slower...so may extra steps to perform this simple task

1) add 1 split at the start of the section
2) add 2nd split at the end of the section
3) change clip speed

If i make the clip faster, it leaves a space
4) then i have to ripple delete the space

If i try to make the clip slower, it fails saying not enough room on the timeline

The timeline should automatically adjust to close the gap or give enough room

I should be able to drag the red/green markers around the section i want to change the speed of, and right click "clip speed" and it auto-splits and the timeline auto-adjusts...it should be 1 simple step

I welcome ideas/tips that make this quicker and remove steps....

I'm amazed that this received only two votes. Oh wait, it's Get Satisfaction, no I'm not. Three, now.

And that's because EVERYBODY who adjusts the speed of clips has to deal with the complete and utter waste of time and drain of productivity that the current process is.

As yet another user discovered just today, in fact.

I would add to this idea that:
- The user should be able to set a collection of speed changes; and that
- Each change be assignable to a user-definable custom keystroke or a custom toolbar button.

Over the course of a year this could save serious producers literally hours of wasted time.
