Too many clicks needed...

I am using Snagit 12.4. Very often I have to do a long sequence of screen shots for documentations. As these screen shots will be published on white background (paper, that is), I want to put a border around them. But whenever my screenshot is shown in Snagit Editor, the tools tab is the active tab. So I need one click to move to the picture tab (I am using the German version, so I just hope the names of the tabs I use are correct). I have saved a quick style that fits my need, but different from the drawing tools, my style is not shown unless I open the list of styles. So quite a few clicks are needed to get me where I need to be.

It would really help me do my work much faster if
- the program would stay at the picture tab and not always switch back to tools
- my quick style would show up first in the list of styles

Is there a way to accomplish this by some setting I have not yet found?
If not, please take this as an improvement for a future release

Thank you
Joern.

You could set up a custom profile to add the border or modify an existing one.
You would add a border while capturing it. You need to add the effect "Border". You can customize the width and color to taste . If I were you I would make both border colors white and turn off the shadow.

See Image Below, Click to Enlarge.

Hi,
You can also add the Border option to the Quick Access menu at the very top of the Editor so you can get to it without using the tabs.
Here's how:

Other options you might consider would be to configure a quick style to do it. I would begin by clicking the Image tab and then the Outline style. Configure the settings as you want (number of pixels for the outline and outline color) then add that to the Quick Styles.

You could also edit the little Quick Access Toolbar and add the Border command to it for simple and easy access.

I like joe's solution (i was thinking about it but i haven't used profiles). My reason is that I'm not always performing the same task. When i'm doing documentation i would want stuff like the border, but when i'm doing image editing for a website the process is different. Therefore being able to set up multiple profiles so i can pick which one applies best fits my situation.

However, i have a question regarding the other suggested solutions. Can you add a quick style to the quick access bar or quick access menu?

Hello again

Yeah, I was hoping I would be able to do that. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a way to easily add the Quick Style there. It would be a really nice feature to have!

yep.. maybe an item to add to the "nice to have" (but not necessary) Techsmith development list.

as the latest v12 version was released some 6 months ago, hopefully some of the ideas/questions will be solved in the next update.
