The tool tips on the snagit capture drop down merely repeat the name of the selection. For example, the "Grab Box" tool tip is a completely useless "Grab Box." In one (or more) of the older versions, the tool tip was the short-cut key, which is somewhat helpful.

It doesn't show them because the only shortcuts for the tools are the first 9(nine) you have in the toolbar.
The tools you use the most should be in one of those 9 positions on the toolbar if you
want shortcuts for them.
The shortcuts are CTRL+1, CTRL+2, CTRL+3, etc. through to CTRL+9 for whatever tool is in that number position.
