Transitioning from PC to Mac: how to open PC files and revise/save in Mac?

I am transitioning from a PC (SnagIt 12) environment to a Mac (SnagIt 4.1.4)  environment.  I am unable to open the PC-generated SnagIt images using the Mac-version of SnagIt.  When in Mac, File > Open, PC-created are greyed out.  I notice that the PC-version has an extension of .snag - and creating a sample Mac-version has an extension of .snagproj.  It doesn't seem to be as simple as changing the extension from .snag to .snagproj!  Am I able to open a PC-version and revise/save in Mac?  If so, how can I use previous screenshots/images?

You cannot share editable images. .snag and incompatible with MAC and that's all there is to it.

You can however, batch convert all your image to png or some other format that opens on a MAC. I don't use a Mac so I can't tell you what is available to you, but png would be my choice if Mac can open them.I would convert one, open in on the Mac,then convert the others. The images will all be flattened. But you will have access to them and can edit them further.

J. Morgan is correct. The native format for SnagIt Mac and Snagit PC are totally incompatible. In past I have brought up this subject before. No one  from TechSmith has given a good reason why that Is.

The two Major Computer Companies Apple and Microsoft have products that can open Files For example Office .docx, .xlsx and .pptx formats can be directly opened by both Office Windows, and Office Mac  can readily open Files there are some features not in Mac that is in Windows and vs-versa.

Also Apple Pages, Numbers, and Keynote and open Office Mac/Office Windows documents .docx, .xlsx, .pptx files although they are converted  .page, .num, & .key.

So how how hard is it.

I've noted in using SnagIt Mac the only way for you to make correction on a screenshot is to open the original SnagIt file if you open the .png, jpg, .bmp whatever version it not editable The file has been automatically flattened.  You can add items but you can't make corrections on converted formats.

So even if you can download a .png version to PC or a Mac you can only add to it not make corrections.

By the way the following conversion are available in Mac:

I feel like I just wasted $62. (I was a sucker and purchased the maintenance agreement.) Saving the .snag files using a different format does me no good. My reason for purchasing SnagIt for my Mac was to edit callouts that I'd created on a PC.

This reminds me of the time I spent $300 on Camtasia and the first two videos that I recorded were corrupted. :(  Should have known better.
