I have just purchased camtasia assets and want to add a fire ball from those shown to a video. I assumed the black backgrounds were transparent background but when I import and add it to the video the black is showing and covering the back. Does anyone know how I remove the black?

Hi!  Which asset were you looking to use?  All of the videos found in the effects section do include that transparent background, and were made to work well in Camtasia.

Camtasia Effects

However, if you found a fireball type of effect in our stock video collection, it may need some additional work to be supported.  If you could link me the asset you were looking to use, I may be able to get that converted for you.

Hi there

Have you tried using the "Remove a color" feature of Camtasia? You should find it in the Visual Effects panel. Just open that panel, find the option and drag it and drop it on top of your image in the Timeline. Then use the eyedropper in the properties panel to sample the black.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks Rick. Thank worked enough to get a basic thing.  For using effects like freballs etc from the assets videos, where there is a black background, is that the way to always remove the black? It doesn't always cut it out neatly which doesn't matter for fire but just wondered if there was something I am missing as I want to drop in visual layers like water or fire overlaying other videos but semi transparent

Any clips found in the Videos: Effects section should have transparency enabled.  I just did a test download of the Alpha Channel Flames From Center, and it is showing up with transparency for me.  Can you confirm what the file type of your download was?  If it is a transparency enabled effect, it should be a libzip file.  If it is a stock footage clip, it will be an MP4 or MOV.  Thanks!

No problem!  I'm glad you got it working.  If you do end up finding some effects you like that are in the stock footage category, please let us know.  We're always looking for new effects to convert and bring into the Effects category for your use.
