trimming the black bars of a video

I have a video of a talk and a recording of its slides which II want to place next to eachother. Both have include black bars due to their aspect ratios. Now I want to resize them such that both fit on the same screen. So the user can watch the talk and see the slides well. Easily doable but I have a black bar regardless which one is in front. This hinders me having them both next to each other at max size. How can I trim a video to exclude the black bar in Camtasia?

Changing the aspect ratio in ppt , reformating  many slides and rerecord it is not an option. I want to do it in camtasia

well something like cropping in the visual properties of a video would do the trick

How about trying a neutral background to start off with and bringing the slides in as PiP?  You could reposition them on the screen then and use the Visual Properties to get them fading in and out.

I have to make videos with specific output sizes (normally wide-screen, HD).  If an area of application I need to film, is say, square, then I start off with a plain background  at the correct output size, and bring in the recording as an overlay.  But if as you say, you don't want to have to record again (and I know that's a pain!), then I can't see any way of avoiding the black bars in this case.
