Whenever I finish recording a video and press the stop button on the recorder the process after that starts to load but then it stops at 40% and doesn't respond I tried waiting it out but that still didn't work. Is it because my drive doesn't have enough space?

The amount of drive space required varies. The following should give you a general idea.

My typical recording file sizes can be as low as 200,000 KB for a 2 min. recording on a 1920 x 1080 monitor.

They can also run as high as 1 GB per 2 min. recording.

It depends entirely on what you are recording. Recording a video playing will typically create the largest files.
Based on those numbers. If you are recording a 10 min. video and you only have 10 GB of free drive space. You should have more than enough drive space with plenty to spare.

The reason you are having this problem can be many things. You could contact tech support and let them help you sort this out.
