Hi I am using camtasia 7.1 and windows 10. I try to record audio and when i go to save the wav file it tells me that I need to close windows media player or some other application may have this file open. Please close any application using this file then, hit retry. There is no other programs open. Please advise.

Hello,

I don't believe Camtasia 7.x is compatible with Windows 10. (may start and run but results are unpredictable) Since save options are usually trec or AVI, I think you got the option to save as a WAV after using Produce Special - Export Audio as - then the WAV save dialog. Did it here with Camtasia 8.x on WIN 8.1 with no difficulty.

That seems like a lot of extra steps to record audio only? If the required result is to be a WAV or other audio-only format, an audio recorder/editor like Audacity is available at no charge:
