Turn Screen Recording Off On Camtasia Recorder 9 For Windows

I just got the free trial of Camtasia 9, and was about to buy the full product until I realized I cannot turn off screen recordings when I go into the Camtasia recorder 9.

To clarify I record over an Elgato capture card, and I want to use Camtasia Recorder 9 so I can record my commentary audio, and webcam only. I've tried recording over Elgato, and Camtasia at the same time with the screen recorder on, but it causes both recordings to lag horribly.

I've searched though Camtasia 9's settings, and the internet for a way to turn off the screen recording, and I found out how to do it on Mac, but not for Windows. Is there something I'm overlooking, or is it not possible?

If worse comes to worse I'll have to install a different software to record my webcam, and send it over to Camtasia to edit.

I PURCHASED Camtasia 9 for windows and then discovered you have to record at least a portion of the screen! Of course when finished - you can just delete the track and keep the audio/webcam.

Yes unfortunately that feature was removed in Camtasia 9 and what weyco said is a great work a round to do what you want. I would like to see this option to Record Camera only brought back in Camtasia 9 myself and I am sure others would like it too. We can always put in an Idea and see how many votes it gets and wish they bring it back.

Thanks for posting and have a great day/night. Feedback is great from other users and also helps TechSmith know what their users are wanting and gives them a chance to see what is most popular and not so popular in my opinion.

Cheers ~ Fred.

For me is totally the same. I just wanted to buy Camtasia Studio because I want to record my own tutorials about health and I bought new computer which meet the Camtasia Requirements and now with their 9 version they made me unwanted surprise. Well video I want to make in 3 days so probably I suppose to check other possible software. I am very angry!

just make the recording using a very small capture area for Recorder, then delete that [screen] track in the project

Well I think when Camstasia records 2 videos at the same time it uses my graphic board capacity and my webcam made video is lagging.

I bought computer:
15.6" 1920x1080 p. (Full HD)/Intel Core i7-7700HQ,2.8GHz/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M (4GB GDDR5 VRAM)/with Windows 10/En

I also do have Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam

and I do not understand why my webcam recorded video is lagging :(
I think it is because for 2 recording videos at the same time in Camtasia...

you're probably correct in that doing 2 recordings at same time is part of lagging you see; I believe they use entirely different code paths, the screen going to AVI and the web cam going to W?? [can't remember]

I do not do much web cam work because, with my laptop's built in camera, the quality has never been that good

I miss the Record Camera function that was in CS8 as it seemed to give decent results [lag, wise]

You are totally right . I just installed into computer logitech 920c sofware and made 1080p HD video without any lagging. So it is totally Camtasia studio fault.

Now I worry do I need to wait while they will fix this problem or I can buy now Camtasia 9 and I can expect upgrade which will be for free (this question is for Camtasia developers)?

Why in the world is Camtasia 9 a step backward from Camtasia 8?  Turning off screen capture.  Removing the option to select sound segments to remove for silence?  THEY NEED SOMEONE WHO LISTENS TO THE CUSTOMERS.  THE AUDIO FEATURES ARE REALLY CRAPPY!
