Two monitors, approach to editing

Looking for tips and tricks on how to edit and produce video from two monitors. Camtasia 8.6 in Windows 8.1.

I have video of two apps that were run at the same time on the same PC. So, the video is 2048 wide and 610 tall.

I would like to:
  • Focus on one of the screens most of the time in my output. So, mostly have one screen (1024 wide) as my output.
  • Do a picture-in-picture thing with the output I have from the other monitor.
Anyone know of a tutorial on this (link)?
Any tips?
My approach to troubleshooting this is beginning with loading the same trec twice, once in track 1 and once in track 2. I am not sure where my testing will go from here.

Thanks all for your help.

try this approach ...

with the clip on timeline twice [2 tracks], crop one so it shows one monitor only, crop the other to show only other monitor

add splits where you want scene to change from one monitor to the other, and set low/or 0% opacity to hide one monitor when you want other to show; you might also set the zoom so that one monitor fills all/most of canvas; some overlap might work OK as a visual cue?
