There was this great feature in Snagit12 where you can edit or change the value of a number stamp. But suddenly I can't do this anymore with the new number stamps in Snagit 13. Please bring it back.

Try double-clicking the stamp once you placed it. It should then allow you to change the value. You can also right-click it and choose "Edit Value" from the context menu.

Cheers... Rick :)

Sounds like you are experiencing something I regularly see. Focus loss.

For me, clicking away from something that has been selected naturally removes focus from where it was. But I've noticed that recently, the latest version or two of SnagIt doesn't appear to behave as older versions once did. For example, if I draw a shape, then want to adjust the properties to perhaps change colors. I'm so accustomed to just popping in and making the change that I fail to realize that it seems just clicking over where you change the colors or whatever has removed focus from the object I want to adjust.  And it causes frustration as I click the selection tool, THEN carefully click and observe to ensure that the shape now has proper focus, THEN I am able to adjust the attributes I need.

Perhaps this is what is happening to you as well? I've also noticed it a bit with the step tool too.

This is also something you might want to ask support about. I'm not sure if they use Support requests to also note how prevalent an issue is. But it may help.

If you have another mouse laying around.

Try using it and see what happens.

That behavior sounds like what occurs when the  left click button wears out. Inconsistent clicking leading to abnormality's and inconsistent behaviors.

Regards,Joe

Rick, glad i'm not alone with issues on "clicking"! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the link! I try to avoid asking Snagit folks for help if I can find answers in the forum, but if I don't, I'll certainly write them.

Joe Morgan, yes, I have two mice, and same happens with each.  thanks for the reply!

The mouse was a shot in the dark.I've sent a few to their grave. Crazier things have happened when it's time for a new one.
My next move would be a Repair Install. You can run one almost as fast as I can  type this response.Plus, it's leaves the program unaltered in most cases. Your preferences remain unaltered, etc.
This post is run in the Windows and Mac forum so I don't know what system your using. On a windows machine go to the control panel and select "Repair" instead of uninstall and that's it.Piece of cake.

If you deleted the installation files. Repair installs won't work because the repair is done using those files.
If that's the case download "Your Version" of SnagIt from here. Getting the version number correct is critical.  https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions

Run the installer and select repair.

Hopfully, that will set things right.

At my installation the settings come up the way that Rick described: select the stamp the number of which you want to change, right-click it, an choose one of the options:

Ha, I've just discovered that I can't see the Snagit12 or SnagIt 13 number stamps after upgrading from 12 to 13. What I see now is the number stamps from Super StampV2 stock I bought years ago. which cannot be edited - hence why I've been having problems. But I can't see the number stamps that originally comes with SnagIt 13? Where can I find them? I tried reinstalling SnagIt 13 but that did not resolved the issue, it still defaulted to the Super Stamps V2

Hi Ahmedus - Perhaps you started using the dynamic Step Tool rather than the static stamps in Snagit 12?

See this video for details on the Step Tool:

The Step Tool is still there in Snagit 13 (Win) and Snagit 4 (Mac)! It might be under the "More" menu in your toolbar. If you use that tool a lot, you'll probably want to customize your Snagit toolbar to keep the Step Tool visible.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Daniel you've been a life saver. the fault is all mine, I wrongly attributed that feature to Stamps when it is Step Tool. I do a lot guides and have the step tool feature invaluable. Many thanks again.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Dynamic Stamps.

In previous versions of Snagit for MAC I enjoyed the Dynamic Stamps of the numbered stamps. Click on the canvas, and the number auto advances. In the new version this is not functioning the same. Is this possible? Also a Dynamic Time and Date Stamp would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Thanks.
