Unable to import a .camrec file

I use Camtasia Studio 8.1 on Windows 8 Enterprise.
After recording a couple of videos, the process of importing some of the .camrec files fail with the following error message:
"Cannot load file....
It is either an unsupported media type or required codecs are not found."
After this message is displayed, Camtasia stops responding.
The only way to restart Camtasia is to kill the process using the Task Manager.
Camtasia throws this error randomly.

Is anyone else facing this error?
Is a resolution available?

Thanks and regards,
Karthik

This may be related to the fact that you running version 8.1
That version is 3 years old and has been updated several times since than. Version 8.6 was released in Aug. 2015.
