Unable to install SnagIT on Windows 10

Downloaded latest version to download folder.
Tried to install by telling the .exe to open automatically when finished and by right-clicking and choosing "run as administrator" both give the same results.
I don't even see any TechSmith processes running in task manager though 2 or 3 processes do fire up and disappear.
Both Windows Defender and AVG disabled when trying to install
W10 version is Version 1803 (OS build 17134.407)

Any help would be appreciated as I do have a license for the product and would like to install it.

My thinking is that they want you to buy new software and the company makes it impossible to use older products of theirs. I will not buy any more new software from Snag it  until this is resolved.

Did you reboot your machine after installing?

It most certainly won’t hurt anything and could be the culprit.

Have the same problem, i'm using Windows 10 version 1809 (OS Build 17763.292)

Have tried to run it as administrator as well, nothing happens

Even have tried to celan my registry for previous snagit entries

Same problem for me on WIndows 10 Pro. Nothing happens except "Preparing Installation" and never completes.

To the person with the great advice - call support.  Wow!  nothing like passing the proverbial buck! 

Editorial comments for idiocy aside, I too have followed the same steps as the previous frustrated individuals.  Not only did I clean my registry editor of all files related to TechSmith or SnagIt, I have wasted excrutiating amounts of time dealing with the fatal flaws of Windows and Microsoft (i.e. Windows Installer Error troubleshooting).  I have also opened Windows 10, miraculously in Safe Mode, in another futile attempt to get this software installed. 

Alas, another company with my money, another wasted day, another experience with failed support, another reason to throw my POS laptop out the window, another wasted experience getting no results.

Who is passing the buck? I don't see any posts from TechSmith here in this thread.

I do see lots of posts that are the first and only post made, such as this one. But no reports of whether any of these folks actually contacted TechSmith support. Have you tried contacting TechSmith support? If not, I'd strongly suggest you give it a try. ;)
