My .camrec and .camproj files have stopped loading and I keep getting an error message saying "Unable to locate file:" When I click no to finding it it says... the follwoing files were moved, deleted and or located on a removable drive etc...

I did move the files into Dropbox but would this corrupt the file? they were working fine before this. I've got about 20 hours or work that I cannot now get access to :(. Any idea how to get these files working again?

Find the raw file on your PC, right click and select camtasia or if camtasia is already associated then simply double click.

I don't think you've corrupted anything but you have created a situation by moving these files and then expecting Camtasia to know where these are now. I don't know your workflow or endgame but I would COPY (not move) files to Dropbox if need be and then the camproj would open properly as the project assets would still be in the location that Camtasia is expecting.

Thanks for your help :). I'm actually clicking on the camproj file to open it so why would camtasia not know where the file is?  Does the original camrec file need to be in the same folder as the camproj? Or do I have to have them both open to be able to edit the .camproj.

the message you see indicates that the project timeline files have been moved/deleted since you created the project itself [camproj file]; the project file keeps track of files it uses using absolute paths; if you move/delete source files, it will not see them

a best practice is to always export a project as zip [file menu option] if you will need to revisit that project at a later date; keep the zip archive in a safe place; import that archive [file menu option] to continue working with that project

zipping the project will collect all the files [camproj and any source clips, etc] into a common folder, and adjusts the paths accordingly
