Uninstalled 13. Went back to 12. Loved the pull down menu at the top of the screen. Worked faster with the pull down.

I'm trying to be positive and giving it a real go, but after a week, I have to admit I'm still struggling with 13.

Note that the pull down from 12 is available in 13, for some reason it's disabled by default. Set it from preferences > Show one Click.

It would be better if the 12 settings were migrated to 13 though. Might have been overlooked?

I think the icon that used to be up on your desktop screen looks totally different and the old look (arrow pointing and one click option is not the same. I did turn on the one click, but the look and feel of ver 12 was much better.

Trevor, I don't believe Bernieo is talking about the OneClick button. He seems to be asking how to add the Ribbon at the top of the screen, which is a common complaint from many users who do not like the new v13 layout because it is awkward to use.

Note, I also rolled back from v13 to v12 because I missed the ribbon and am much happier now.

Hi gmelerine.Yes, I am referring to the ribbon pull down at the top of the screen. That ribbon really saves me a ton of time. In fact this week was the first time I had to use 12 to record videos and it was so easy just to quickly click it and bring it down to get my work done. Still a great software over all.

Seems to become a bit of a common practice, rolling back to the previous version. .. :-)
Many users rolled back to v11 after trying v12.
I really wouldn't know, there are no polls on it, but I wouldn't be surprised if half of all users are still using v11 or older.

Me too, I gave v12 a try, went back to v11.
I am considering v13, but I am a bit unsure about what it is really doing better, for -me- , than v11.
TechSmith should add a kind of side-by-side comparison to their website, v11-v12-v13

TS has a comparison of key features of the different versions here: https://www.techsmith.com/snagit-compare-versions.html

As always try the free trial version to see if the upgrade is to your liking.  If not, the old version will continue to work and both versions can be installed at the same time but only one can be used at a time.

I find it interesting that TS (nor software companies) point out what is removed. Regarding v13 - Hotspots/actions were removed. This does not show up in the comparison link above.

It also doesn't list the drop down Ribbon being present on v12 and early revision, but removed in v13. The same goes for the ample Color Palette which was drastically reduced in v13.

The massive reduction in predefined colors is a big step backwards. I don't want to have to mix my own color every time. That should be an option, but there should be a decent color palette to choose from. Why take that away? I know there must be a good reason, only I just can't possibly think what it might be.

@Manny - thanks! I really wasn't aware of the list...
Indeed, no other software companies are telling users what has been removed. They should find out themselves.
In v11 one cud set PrntScrn as global hotkey. AFAIK that was removed in v12, i.e. one has to set a hotkey per profile/preset, which may become confusing when using many profiles (in v13 'presets')

In v13 the optional use of a global hotkey is re-introduced, which I do appreciate.
