Uninstalling SnagIt 12 after upgrading to SnagIt 13 deleted my datastore

I upgraded to SnagIt 13 a little while ago and recently found I had both version 12 and 13 installed. During the uninstall of V12 I was asked if I was going to be reinstalling the software. I answered 'no' because version 13 was already installed. However, on system startup this morning SnagIt complained that it couldn't find my datastore. Happily I was able to restore it from a backup, but this was not a very pleasant experience. Perhaps the uninstall could check whether another version is present before deleting the datastore?

Or at least read it and respect it. NEXT TIME rename the datastore folder, reinstall then dump the contents of the renamed folder into the newly created folder. Then go in, find all the SNAG files and open them si the will appear in the library. (Wisdon suggests that if there are a lot, once loaded starts SAVING them somewhere (documents / snagit?) as the datastore is only meant to be temporary
