Upgraded to a stale version of Camtasia

I upgraded Camtasia on the 24th of March thinking I was upgrading to a fresh version, only find out that a new version was released on the 28th of April. Within 5 weeks my upgrade was stale. And no sympathy from support - if I'd bought 4 days later I would've been upgraded for free. Now I've got to drop another $100 for the privilege of having the latest version of Camtasia.

I think a 30 day hard cut-off for an auto-upgrade would be fine if when buying an upgrade or a version so close to a release date would at least trigger a message informing the buyer that a new release is just around the corner. I certainly wouldn't have upgraded (yet) had I known this.

You should still be able to buy the 'maintenance agreement' thing, which is about $50 - which is what I did, as I also was on about 5-week after the purchase of the previous version. Then, I requested the upgrade to 2020 for free.

Unfortunately, a company has to put their foot down somewhere.
Its stinks what happened to you, but its better than having your house burn down 4 days after your homes fire insurance expired.
Like cristi said, the maintence agreement can get you to an upgrade cheaper. Or, theres dozens of free or inexpensive high quality video programs available. You can always move to another platform.

Sorry about your luck,
