I have just upgraded to Camtasia 2019 from 8 and found I can no longer create mp3 files, which is an important reason I use the programme.

Is this $130 down the drain?

MP3 files are still possible. Check out the thread below for how.

Yep, I should have that option, but I don't.

Your screen shots look like the Windows 7 Areo theme to me. They are are they not?

I'm thinking this is likely a Windows 7 compatibility issue. It's also a guess but a tech support issue just the same.

I did not see the screenshots here that Joe referred too and I no longer have Windows 7 as most users probably don't but there are still many that do who have not chosen to upgrade their OS. Let us know what you find out and post it back here please. That way other users who still use Windows 7 and Camtasia 2019 will know the answer. Have a great day/night.

mp3 support was removed in Camtasia 9. Here is a rather large thread about it. It was re-added in Camtasia 2019, but we now use encoding built into the operating system. Unfortunately, Windows 7 does not have the encoding built-in and that's why you don't see the mp3 option. You need Windows 8 or 10 to be able to export to mp3. I would say it's highly unlikely this is going to change in the future. If you are unable to upgrade your OS or you don't want to use another application for this functionality on Windows 7 you can request a refund. Sorry that this probably isn't the answer you were hoping for,
Glenn

perhaps a misunderstanding regarding the process?

use the share menu item to export only the audio; takes only a few seconds; no need to render/export the project as an audio file

once imported in Audacity, exporting as MP3 is equally as fast

have you tried it?

since it's not doable as you want in Win 7, the Audacity path seems appropriate

Thank you for your ideas, however it is still extra, unnecessary work that having spent $$ on an upgrade I should not have to do.

I am going back to Camtasia 8 where I can do it once and be done.

since you have Win 7 ...

as I recall, Microsoft offered free upgrades to Win 10 for those who had Win 7?  that's how I got from 7 to 10

perhaps see if that option might still be available

Just easier to go back to Camtasia 8. I am not a tech guy and upgrading the OS is not something I want to do, who knows what will happen? If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I understand

but for what it's worth, my Win 7 to 10 upgrade went very smoothly; just took awhile

I'll add that Win 10 seems to get a major update monthly; all have gone smoothly [and automatically]

I really liked Camtasia Studio 8; but 2019 is so much more capable; handles much larger, more complicated projects, and if you produce to MP4 with smartplayer, the player in 2019 is more advanced than in 8

since you already bought 2019, maybe you can find a way to use both?

curious .. what version of 8?

otherwise, good luck with your projects ...
