Upload viewable image to Google Drive

I've been doing screen capture and upload to Google Drive using built-in function. It has been uploading viewable format (i.e. png).

However, starting version 13.1.2, I noticed that it is uploading .snag format.

Is that intentionally designed as such?

Because this makes the process of sharing images much longer - now I have to first save as png, then upload to Google Drive.

Compared with previous version, it is just capture and share.

You can customize anything you want in the capture window and save it as a preset and use as a default for captures.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the tip - but may I know where can I change that preset? Because I don't remember I had that preset done (as png).

Anyway, I have also looked at my previous captures - they were captured as snag in temporary library, and when I choose to upload to Google Drive, it would automatically upload in png format.

Regardless, appreciate if you could point me to the documentation to upload png automatically as default (in the preset) ?

Thanks very much!

Hi Trevor / Jason

I can't see how you do that in presets so Jason could you be a bit more explicit please?

This echoes an earlier  comment.  When Snagit does any file save to any destination it would be really helpful if tt stored a shareable format (png) and an editable one (snagit format) so you can revisit an earlier shared item.  One save action, two files.

Sorry I misread the OP.

I didn’t know he wanted to save two different formats.

Pretty sure you can’t o that though.

Hi Jason,

FYI, I am not asking both files. To reproduce the error,
I'd suggest you to try it yourself:

1) Do a screen capture
2) Upload it to Google Drive using the snagit built in function
3) you will see .snag is uploaded instead of .png file

Thanks.

The problem happens only with Google Drive, when i share via screencast it save properly the file as PNG file.
So :
- make a screenshot
- share via Google drive and obtain the link
- the link show a .snap file, not a PNG
Thanks for feedback.

Same problem here. The updated version of SnagIt only uploads to Google Drive in .SNAG format even though saving to local drive would be in .PNG.

The edit preset option doesn't allow for the determining of the file type, The older version of Snagit used to do that, I recall.

Anyway, i've reverted to version 13.0.3 to gain back my productivity.

Snagit is supposed to help me in productivity, not the other way round.

Just a side-note - the Mac Version (4.1.3) of Snagit uploads PNGs to Google Drive.

Any ETA ? I was more than 15 days... And when i see Vimeo outputs has been asked more than 4 years ago i'm really afraid...
I'm sorry to be so unpleasant but i come from ScreenPresso who worked like a charm but was a little rustic. I switched to Snagit and bought a multi subscription for the ergonomical way but so disappointment to have so many bugs with release, freeze after snap, stoping working without any reason and now this problem.
And i'm sorry, the solution purposed to your link is not a real solution, it's just some powdery eyes...

Damn I was just trying to work out how to do this and I see it's still not possible. Does the older version of Snagit upload PNG?

Interesting.. that would seem to indicate it's an oversight... I have switched to DropBox for now (that does PNG), but the links are all going in a Google Sheet so it would be better to have them all coming from the same drive type.

There are a few things in the old editor I preferred, like how highlight was only a 1 click instead of hidden in a menu...

Adding my vote to get this addressed sooner rather than later.

If you're OK with sending straight to GoogleDrive without going via the editor it's fine (the problem is when you send it to GD from the editor - for me that is the most frequent scenario as I usually need to annotate the image I want to share)

Having the same problem very frustrating!

Uploads .SNAG to GDrive and not viewable. Can't auto upload as png & jpg

The workarounds are not efficient too.

Adding my vote. It is very frustrating to get a .SNAG file when you share a picture with someone.

Till September Dropbox public folder will stop working (in regard of new political requirement of dropbox), Google Drive doens't work, OneDrive is really not an acceptable solution so what is the alternative ? Excepted by subscribing to screencast who is a part of techsmith ? Coincidence ?
I stopped to wait the support of a company who doesn't take care of their customer : uninstalled Snagit and installed Snap 10.

Please enable to upload to GDrvie / Dropbox  in png / jpg format not .SNAG so it's viewable and sharable with others. Very frustrating! Thanks

I've now bought Snap 10 and ditched SnagIt. I've been waiting 4 months for even a reply from the folks at Techsmith. I can't wait any longer. Snap 10 is already proving to be more useful than SnagIt for me.

I'm not sure what has happened to SnagIt / Techsmith team.

5 months have passed, no update on this unnecessary bug, and no further maintenance update.

I start to wonder my 10 years loyalty on SnagIt is worth extending.

As you can see from my comment above, I switched to Snap10. Like you I had been loyal to SnagIt for a decade. I am now a fan of Snap 10. SnagIt has been uninstalled. Had they spotted this bug on testing the new version, or dealt with it immediately, I'd still be loyal. But the company's silence suggests that either they don't care, or they have no idea how to fix it (which is strange as it always used to work OK), or that SnagIt is no longer a priority for the business.
