V13 has some very annoying and time costly bugs

For now, I just want to share the ones that bother me most.

1) I configured my presets to capture to the Clipboard directly and not display the capture in the Editor. However, my capture DOES appear in the editor each and every time, as the last capture, which means I have to delete that unneccesary capture, and then scroll back to the capture I was actually editing. When working with a lot of captures simultaneously, this is a terrible and unneccesary waste of time and a source of frustration.

2) I discovered this one today after losing my work 3 times over, which means I spent the entire day working on ONE mockup, and even losing that one too >> an entire day's work down the drain!
When the editor is active, and you press ctrl-alt-del to lock the screen (WIN 7), it actually DELETES the image you are currently working on, and there is no way to get it back.
Do I get compensation for losing a days work? 8hrs * 50€ = 400 € = WAY more than the price of your license!

3) The OneClick bar sometimes just disappears, while according to my settings, it is "on". The only way to get it back is turn it off and back on.

4) Zooming in and out makes the program slower, and I can't understand why the simple + an - mini buttons to zoom in and out have gone... it's not like that "simplifies" things, I am now forced to use the slider, and "guess" approximately where to set the pointer on the slider, when all I want is for my image to zoom in just a little.

Overall, I do not find v13 much of an improvement, I regret having paid for it.

Sorry to hear you are having difficulties.

1) I'm bringing this bug to the attention to our team. Thank you for the report. I the meantime, this is happening because Editor is still running in the background (to allow for it to pop back up speedily). So if you go to File > Editor Preferences... in Snagit Editor, then go to the Advanced tab, you can uncheck "Always keep Editor running in the background", and if you have Editor closed, it won't appear. But it won't open as quickly after you capture something you want to send to Snagit or if you open it manually. Just a workaround for now.

2) I was unable to reproduce this issue. But I'll definitely get more eyes on it here. Because the resulting data loss is terrible. I apologize for the major inconvenience.

3) Do you work with multiple monitors or a docking setup with your laptop, we're trying to track this down. But it's intermittent.

4) I hear you. Our intent is to make all the numeric properties boxes respond to the arrow keys to move the value up and down, as well as being to hold shift to jump at bigger increments. But missing the arrows makes sense. I'll bring it up with the team.

We really appreciate you taking the time to write these all out. Thank you.

#1: I unchecked the "Always keep running in the background" box, the behavior has not changed

A few additional remarks:

5) sometthing I miss in v13, is the xy coordinates of an object. When creating mockups, it is essential to have things lined up horizontally and vertically. The coordinates helped a lot on that.

6) when there is no time delay on the capture, the OneClick menu is usually included in the capture, as it is not hidden fast enough. This was not the case in previous versions. The workaround is to set a time delay of 2 seconds or so, but I shouldn't have to do that. The OneClick menu must disappear before the capture is started.

7) As for the toolbar, it is a good idea to make it customizable, but having the icons in mono color, makes them less "recognizable", so I often have to look a few seconds longer at the toolbar to find the icon I am looking for. You may argue that is a matter of "getting used to it", but I have been using the new version intensively for a few weeks now...
I am also running out of space on the toolbar, so I think providing only one "line" is not enough.

8) For the "Fill" tool, the default tolerance is set too high for me, and it is annoying to have to think of setting it to a lesser value each time I want to use it. (a lot of "undo"s, change settings, retry)
Can the default tolerance become a user setting?
In fact, I think most default property values are candidates to become user settings.

For #2, does it happen when you hit Windows Key+L instead of Ctrl+Alt+Del? Curious as to when this happens.

Ah ha! I think we have a fix for #2, should be getting it out in the next maintenance. Thank you again.

I've reproduced #2. I'd like to personally apologize for your data loss and being the developer that introduced this issue with some other changes. I have a fix for this and hopefully it will be included in our next maintenance update.  In the meantime you can go into File > Editor Preferences and uncheck the option so it will at least prompt before performing the deletion:

In addition, if you haven't changed the default Windows settings, items you delete through Snagit should be left in the Recycle Bin.  Have you tried looking through there?

Ok Tim, that worked!
Thanks, at least half my lost day yesterday is recovered.
I appreciate your efforts to help as well as you can.
