Various Video and Audio Problems

I'm running Windows 7 and I've tried 2 versions of Camtasia. I have a 20min video, a pre reel, a post reel, and a call out (runs the length of the main video) that I'm trying combine into a single video.

7.1: I can add the video with no problem but when I add the callout I get a huge frame rate drop. Also, when I add the pre or post reel they will sometimes play without issue, some times the video is just green, and sometimes only audio will play... all without me changing anything.

8.5: I can add everything just fine and have no video problems. The only issue is that there is a 5+ second audio desync that is present from the beginning of the video.

I would prefer to get 8.5 running but nothing I try works. I've updated my drivers and its only on 8.5 that I experience the desync issue.
