Vertical position of captions

I would really like to be able to specify the vertical positioning of individual captions. Most of the time captions at the bottom (but overlaying the video) are ideal but sometimes there is something there that should not be obscured by the captioning. In such cases you really want to be able to move those captions up (top-aligned).

Technically I suppose this would be a request for a

tscDM:valign="top"
tscDM:valign="center"
tscDM:valign="bottom"

range of settings fo the TSC player to support (and also ofcourse for the Camtasia editor to allow editing of this).

Well I'll be damned. There is a tscDM:valign="..." tag in config_xml.js, one for each caption! Why isn't this exposed in the Camtasia Studio caption editor?

I just tried editing the config_xml.js file and it works just fine, I can now top-align individual captions by changing tscDM:valign="bottom" to tscDM:valign="top" !

Unfortunately tscDM:valign="bottom" doesn't seem to work but being able to choose top alignment is better than nothing.

This really needs editor support though, it's not much fun manually editing this file and with every new rendering of the video it needs to be done again.

I agree. I wouldn't even know where to make the edits you described.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the 1st of the month (this month is slightly different, due to the holidays) where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!

-Robert
