video capture terminated unexpectedly. error returned 18.

When I start video capturing, Snagit 2019, screen shows "Initializing" and after several seconds displays error popup: "Video capture terminated unexpectedly. error returned 18".
I followed all suggestions I found on the net, including checking the .Net version, disabling webcam, changing registry keys, updating Snagit and updating drivers, lowering video quality but nothing helps. Any suggestions? Thank you. Michael

I've done that too, Rick. My video capture does not terminate unexpectedly.
Snagit does not initiate capturing. when I click on video capture and select the video, screen displays "Initializing" for few seconds and then displays error message "Video capture terminated unexpectedly. error returned 18'. So it does not even start.

If it were me, I would start by running a repair install of SnagIt 2019.
You do this by opening the control panel and opening the uninstall menu is if you're going to uninstall the program. You select SnagIt 2019 from the menu and rather than choosing uninstall you choose CHANGE.
The image below shows the procedure for SnagIt 2018. But the process is identical for SnagIt 2019.

A repair install sets things right within the program without modifying most of your own personal settings. It's less intrusive and easier than a complete reinstall. I believe it does change a couple settings like having SnagIt start when your computer starts. A repair install usually takes only a couple of minutes.
Aside from that, errors like yours can be as simple as an audio driver or as complicated as a hardware problem that's difficult to diagnose.
So if a repair install can't fix it for you. I would get tech support involved. It's free and they know more about this stuff than anyone in this forum.
