This is also happening when I record video in Photo Booth and iMovie.
Running Sierra 10.12.4.
Camtasia settings: Full motion 30 fps, 720p HD.
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core i7

What's wrong?

Thanks!

Is this through your mac's built in camera? What model mac do you have?

Yes. MacBook Pro (Retina, late 2013).
Thanks!

Hmm, so you've got an SSD, and a built in camera - that kinda rules out disk Speed and the USB connection.

If you launch activity monitor just before recording, does the CPU seem high (Idle should be around 80-90% before you start recording)

It's odd since you mentioned your video is choppy everywhere, Photo Booth is usually pretty solid as far as quality goes.

My video is extremely choppy. How can I fix this? I want my face camera full screen for some parts of my training.
