Video recorded on an iPad is automatically rotated by 90° when imported to Camtasia 8

Hi guys and gals,

I have recorded a demo video for an app on my iPad Air (iOS 12.4.5) in landscape format.
After importing it to Camtasia and moving it into the timeline, it appears rotated and distorted even though the thumbnail picture in the library bin is correct.
So I have to rotate it and to adjust width and height. This slows camtasia down a lot for further working with the video!
Do you have an idea why this happens and how I can avoid this?

Cheers
Fabian

My own guess here is something called exif data or it may be called metadata in a video. I believe this is information that is recorded that governs how certain applications may treat the video during playback.

Hopefully one of the Camtasia development team will pop in to advise as to if or how accurate my own guess is. Maybe even offer a way to bypass or overcome it?

I also found a thread that may be somewhat helpful.
