Hi - I have been working on editing a lecture. I added a few clips and now the video is not visible. When I click 'tracks' the video1 track is greyed out. I can't figure out how to get the video back. The audio plays and I can see the slides in the video track but they don't play. I don't want to delete as I did a lot of time consuming editing. I really hope I can get that video track active again. Thanks for any advice.

Could it be that you have shut off the visibility of that track or locked it accidentally? I realize this might be to simplistic of an answer but I'm throwing it out there anyway. Just click those features to shut them off.

It happens, I like to call it dueling responses. Whoever is done typing and uploading an image first wins. LOL

Thanks for the help - I do not have the eye icon to toggle. The audio and video have a graphic linking them and the terminal of the video end is bright blue, when I hover over it, it gives me the option to unlink the audio and video. When I drop down the 'tracks' menu, video is greyed out. Thanks again. I don't see a paperclip to attach a screen shot, or I would.

What version of Camtasia are you using? It sounds like Camtasia 7 to me.

It sounds like the track visibility has been toggled off. You can toggle tracks on/off using the button shown here:

Hope this helps.

It sounds like Ldoninger is using Camtasia 7 or possibly an earlier version.  I no longer have Camtasia 7 on my computer and don't know how to help him with this. Maybe you can.

Thank you, unfortunately that did not work. The video track is still black (I can see the clips are there) and when I click the tracks drop down menu video 1 track is still grey.

could you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

or make a brief screencast [host on screencast.com] demonstrating the issue?

It looks like your timeline is frozen. Have you tried exiting Camtasia and restarting it?

I'm having the same problem as mentioned above. I just purchased Camtasia for Mac.  I created a separate audio file and dropped it on a track. Then I recorded the screen capture for my demo.  It was working fine but now when I try to view the video (without the audio), the screen is grayed out.  I'm attaching a screen shot.
