Video without quiz still trying to communicate with LMS

I have training videos that were previously used internally with our LMS that contained quizzes that I am reproducing for external use with the quizzes removed. I am still rendering them with the SmartPlayer option for the closed captioning. While the SCORM settings screen doesn't come up, when I attempt to play the HTML file, I get the message "Unable to locate the LMS's API application. Communication with the LMS will not occur." Additionally, the caption option is not there.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions on how to remedy this issue.

Hello lshumate,

Are you uploading the SCORM zip file created from Camtasia to your LMS?  It sounds like you what are uploading may not contain all the files needed for Smart Player to work.

What version of Camtasia are you using?

Thanks,
Ben

I'm having the same problem.  In our LMS I needed a table of contents and quiz embedded - uploaded SCORM all is well.

I needed to also upload a version without the quiz, just the video content (no captions) and with a clickable TOC so the user can go directly to that content for review of the information.

I only uploaded as an html link for the no quiz content...not as a SCORM.  It works, but I get the "Unable to locate the LMS's API application. Communication with the LMS will not occur." alert messages.

How do I fix this?  Do I create another video removing the quiz and upload that as a SCORM as well to our LMS...what if we need to have the content only on our website as a video link...but we are not putting it in our LMS?

Thanks -- I'm new to this!

If you want to produce a video that is not intended for SCORM, then you do not want to use the SCORM option.  This bundle will configure the TechSmith Smart Player in a way that will look for the SCORM api.

You will want to produce your video with the SCORM option unchecked.

If you want to create a version of your video without the quiz then you can just uncheck the quiz option in the dialog you use to produce the video.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm not sure what I did different; I downloaded an update and re-produced the course ensuring SCORM was off and it seems to be working now.  Thanks!
