Video capture always stopps after a few seconds of recording

When I am recording, it always stops after 16 seconds and shows a box saying following:
"Video capture terminated unexpectedly. The video recorder returned error 0x1."

If I stop the recording before these 16 seconds, then snagit doesn`t save the video. Could this be a configuration problem?

Hi Dominik,

Thank you for letting us know about this issue that you are seeing. Which operating system are you seeing this problem on?

If you are using Windows 7, are you by any chance running Snagit in compatibility mode for an older operating system such as Windows Vista or Windows XP? If so, does disabling the compatibility mode help?

If the information above does not fix the problem, our tech support team is available to help you. You can contact them and ask a question here:

Hello Eula,

What product is this for? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that perhaps you are pressed a hotkey combo that happens to also be set up to stop the recording. What happens if you just let the recording run without doing anything?

Other than that, I think the link Brett has above to Tech Support is your best bet. I'm confident they will help you get to the bottom of this if you open a case with them.

Sorry for the trouble--I hope we can figure out what's going on and post the resolution here.

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

I am experiencing the same problem, only it records for about 10 to 13 minutes.  I am running Windows 7 professional, Service Pack 1 on a Dell Precision T3500 with 8GB of memory on a 64 bit op system.  I have plenty HD space.  What is the solution.  Is the program flawed?  I just uninstalled the program, downloaded the program again and did an install. I restarted the computer after doing the uninstall.

I have not had this error or issue but I have not recorded that long of a video using SnagIt 12.2.1 Is this a bug or something else TechSmith ? It would be nice to know if it is and if anyone else is experiencing this issue. Thanks ahead of time. I might try to record a longer video to see what happens and will let you know.

Ok so this is going to sound crazy but this is how i fixed this issue on our computer. (We were using it on a laptop) It turned out that this error occurred once we moved the mouse that we had plugged in to one of the USB ports on the laptop. Once we unplugged the USB mouse and tried it again by moving the builtin touchpad mouse, the error never occurred. So maybe try unplugging your USB mouse or maybe any other USB device to see if that fixes the issue for you.
