It would help if you clarified exactly what you mean by "video boxes". If you mean that you want to have 12 to 24 video tracks running at the same time in the final production, then as long as your PC has enough memory and processing power you should be able to do that. You'll need to resize each video track so that it's taking up only part of the canvas, but it's doable. Your bigger challenge will be avoiding people hitting the back or off button because they're just confronting a wall of visual noise, though if done briefly I'd agree that it could be a good effect. I just tried it with 12 tracks and while the playback in the editor was woefully slow, the rendered output played just fine.
