I edit a lot of off-the-cuff presentations to remove "ums" and "ahs" and other dead spots.  The presenters often give me notes - "Cut out the data entry stuff at 20:45" - but by the time I get to 20:45 I've made dozens of other trims/edits and the time marker is no longer valid.
If we could pop up or just view a timeline showing where we are in the original media file before any edits, that would be helpful for me!

Been there.  I just work backwards.  Edit from the end then all the time-codes remain in-place for reference. It's not the technical answer you'd like, but it does solve the problem

You're right that's a workaround, but I'm asking Techsmith if they'd like to add that as a feature.  It should be possible to do without unnecessarily complicating the interface or getting in the way of anything, and it would also enable me to remove redundancies which I would not otherwise catch whilst working backward...
