INTERFACE INTRICACIES AND SELECTION OF CAPTURE MODE

I HAVE ROLLED BACK TO 11 TWICE NOW BECAUSE YOU KEEP MESSING WITH THE CAPTURE CONTROLS-- IF YOUR CUSTOMER ARE NOT ASKING FOR A FEATURE - THEN THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT MESSING WITH THE WAY SNAGIT WORKS.  WE USE SNAGIT FOR BUSINESS AND NOT FOR THE PROGRAM IT'S SELF.
I DO NOT PLAN THE CAPTURE WAY AHEAD OF TIME- AND THE FACT THAT IN 13.1 I HAVE TO SET THE CAPTURE MODE BEFORE I START IS MADDDDENIING!

I LOVE SNAGIT AND I AM ON OF YOUR BEST SALES MEN- EVERY ONE IN OUR LITTLE COMPANY USE IT AND I TELL EVERY ONE HOW GREAT IT IS -- BUT YOU HAVE TO STOP MESSING WITH AN INTERFACE THAT WE LOVE AND IT WORKS!  Please PLEASE PUT BACK THE ABILITY TO SELECT WHAT TYPE OF CAPTURE WE WANT AFTER WE HAVE SELECTED THE AREA!

Hi Arr,

I *think* you might be talking about the OneClick interface for capturing. If so, we didn't do anything with that, you can turn it on this way:

And, here is the thing with getting software just right... while you REALLY love to capture one way, someone else sitting in the office next to you might want to capture in a totally different way. So, Snagit is highly customizable to fit into many different workflows.

I recommend even veteran users of Snagit watch our video tutorials to learn about new features, ways to customize the Snagit interface to improve efficiency, etc.

Here is a video you might enjoy on how to customize your capture settings:

Also, to your point about:
IF YOUR CUSTOMER ARE NOT ASKING FOR A FEATURE - THEN THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT MESSING WITH THE WAY SNAGIT WORKS.  WE USE SNAGIT FOR BUSINESS AND NOT FOR THE PROGRAM IT'S SELF.

I totally understand a new interface can interfere with people's work processes. This is why we kept the OneClick interface, and much of the old Capture interface the same with just some requested tweaks to make creating and saving profiles easier.

Some people LOVE the OneClick interface, some people HATE the OneClick interface. So, now it is easier to use either one.

Thanks for using Snagit.

If the main purpose is to sell software that people want, what could possibly BE a reason to change it and get the customer base so upset. If it wasn't broken, why are they so hell bent on fixing it?
A lot of us who have been users for quite a while simply don't get what they are up to nor where this is all headed.

I have to confess that I too have gone back to Version 10 where I can capture text from scrolling windows.  I use SnagIt extensively to produce Help for software where I currently have 848 images all created from SnagIt.  In many cases, there are large drop down menus, the contents of which are linked in Help to specific topics.  Without being able to capture text, I'd be typing the contents for days on end.

What  I  would  like  to  have:

When I hit the PrintScreen Key ( PrtScn ) a small window pops up so I can select either;
Panoramic Capture or Video Capture, (  or perhaps more options to select from )
and then Select the Region on the screen .

I can Not seem to get 13 to do that.

When I hit PS it only defaults to Panoramic Capture, the last option I selected, without any quick way to decide.  I have tried all the views in Kelly's menu above and the only way I get to that is through the Windows 10 menu after I get out of Selection Mode.

Are there any options to do what I asked above?

Thanks
