Want the auto-hide red button back

I don't know if this has been covered, or if the latest SnagIt 2018 has it. But I wish the small regular red button (sorry i don't know the proper term) that auto-hides at top of screen, used to take screenshots (images) that never captured the mouse pointer before v13, was changed back to just that. Then let the floating, rectangular dock thing, have the "option" to capture it.

I'm so used to the old way & then I get the damn arrow in my shots!  While the rectangular dock (proper term?) doesn't always load, so I can't find it & have to close SnagIt & rerun it, etc..  Sometimes I close it, but later want it, but need an easy way to open it. That big old dock gets in the way, it's too big IHMO.  Plus I can't auto-hide it like the other, smaller one.  For what's it's worth, I often use my 17" laptop at 1080p, usually with the internal & external LCD's.

Hi jimk!

I think you're looking for OneClick and wanted to let you know how to easily remove the cursor from image captures.

How to turn on OneClick

If you accidentally captured the cursor, you can click on a cursor and hit delete (keyboard or menu) to get rid of it.

The first video - the problem is reverse that. I copied this out of the Help > Capture doc., to clarify what I'm referring:

Ah, yes, the fastest way is to use the hotkey (which you can change):

Or hit the capture button in Snagit Editor, if you have it open:

Alternatively, typing "Snagit 2018" into the start menu:

Ah maybe "Snagit 13" in your case for the last one.

As far as the One Click button (#2 above), it would have been nice if you left it not capturing the mouse pointer. And then have Capture window (#1 above) have the ability like it does now, have the option to capture it or not. I gather you made the change, because more people want One Click to capture the pointer, than not.

One of my hats is a Tech. Writer, so I want screenshots without the mouse pointer.
