Hey Jenn,

Are you wanting to turn off the new OneClick interface? You sure can do that. Check out this video: http://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-sna...

Hope that helps.

Hi all

For those of you that dislike the new interface of SnagIt, I will openly admit that I *WAS* right there with you. But before tossing the baby out with the bath water, you really should spend some time with it. Trust me, I hate Hate HATED the new interface. But the more I forced myself to use it, the more I liked it. That was many months ago. Now I really cannot fathom going back.

So my own advice here is to simply not give up and give it time. Change isn't always easy and you will be glad you stuck with it. SnagIt is an awesome tool and I really cannot imagine my computing life without it!

Cheers... Rick :)

no - that did not help - I just want Snag it to stop highlighting or graying out my screen - I liked the old way that you could easily just drag a quick box around what you wanted to capture. The tools for after you capture the image look nice (although the old ones were just as nice), but my issue is that it is distracting and annoying to try to capture a small piece of my screen now.

I have tried all of the options and profile settings and I can't seem to get snag-it to leave my screen "as-is" and just let me drag a quick small box around the piece I want to capture.

I too hate the new Snag it. REally I was a big user but now what is the point. I simply cannot use it. I now use Microsoft Clip it and move it into Paint in order to make the picture that I need. Why did you ruin such a great program with the incomprehensible pictures and options? No one I work with is using SNAG IT anymore as we cannot figure out how to even get started.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you describe or send a screenshot of what you specifically mean by "incomprehensible pictures and options"?

How do you get the "How to capture an area" ""Let me try" from coming up in Snagit 11.3.0 when I try to capture something
I've been using Snagit for 15 years, I don't need that!!!!

Hi James

I think this is a simple matter of going into the SnagIt
preferences and turning off Notifications such as Show all tips and
Show all balloon tips as well as Program Options > Show help text.

SLOPPY SLOPPY SLOPPY. I'm a long time customer, this is clearly a screw-up and should have been fixed and immediately re-released asap. Beta testing?

Here's the Fix/workaround from that Facebook link in case that link ever fails.

When taking a capture the tutorial window for "Let Me Try It" comes every time. This is currently a known issue that we're working on resolving. Until we can get this fixed below is a workaround that should work.

1.Go to Program Preferences > Notifications
2.Check the Show all balloon tips option
3.Take a capture (tutorial will play) and choose Let me try!
4.Subsequent captures will not show the tutorial and the balloon tips option can now be unchecked again if desired.

v11.3 new install.
Getting rid of  "Idiot-Help". Doesn't work on new win7 install. I second the motion re bad programming practices+no apparent quality control & wonder what the execs are doing besides twiddling their thumbs. PLZ, how to get rid of Idiot-Help that's no help & apparently no recourse? Another software? (user from the start of the old snagit!)

Hi,

Apologies for the slow response on this question, we certainly understand the frustration with this very annoying bug. We just released an update which addresses the bug you're describing. Feel free to check for updates and the new version will be downloaded and installed.

Thanks,

Jason

Yes it's a shame that a good tool is now unusable. I have reverted to v9 after wasting money on the upgrade to 11.  Installation issues, capture issues and editor issues all combined to hasten my decision. I don't ever give up on products lightly so this is unusual for me.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it" shouldn't really apply to software upgrades but I think in this case it does.

Just got new Snagit after computer crashed.   The "let me try" grey out screen is irritating and totally unnecessary.  This is something that should be eliminated by a preference.   You guys are about to lose me after about 15 years of being a customer.  Ridiculous.

Hi Hal - I apologize for the irritation. That screen should appear only once...not every time you launch Snagit. If it's coming up every time, that's a bug. Here's a workaround for fixing it: https://support.techsmith.com/entries/29735708-Snagit-The-Let-Me-Try-Tutorial-Comes-up-After-Every-C...

Also, I confirmed with the product owner, Jason, that this bug was fixed in Snagit 11.4. If you click Help > Check for Updates you can update free if you have version 11. After updating, you will see the "Let me try" screen one last time and then no more.
