When I try to use my Webcam on Camtasia Studio, its shows me that is not available. My system is Windows 7 Home Premium, and my hardware is Dell XPS L502X. How can I solve this? Thanks!

When you have Camtasia Recorder Open and you go under the Tools>Options>Inputs does it show your webcam there or anything for the Device Properties or Format Settings? Also are you using the latest version of Camtasia Studio? If it is not showing anything you could try uninstalling the Integrated Webcam and then rebooting the Laptop and it should re-install the Integrated Webcam. You would do this from your Device Manager as shown in your screenshot. Not saying this will solve the problem(s) but it is a suggestion to try. Let us know if any of these suggestions work or not. Thanks for posting.

Thanks your answer Fred. I've tried to do what you say and under the Tools>Options>Inputs there isn't my webcam... my webcam works, unless on "Camtasia Recorder 8". See a new screenshot above on the Camtasia Studio and Recorder inputs. Thanks again!

Well this is strange behavior. I can see your preview from the Integrated Webcam is showing in this screenshot but the other options shows nothing. I would suggest you put in a Support Ticket with TechSmith which is free and they are good at getting back with you in a timely manner. However it might be after this Holiday Labor Day Weekend so probably around Tuesday or a few days later when they get back with you. They are equipped better to answer this question and see if it is a bug or something else. Sorry I could not be of further assistance on this problem. The link for support is below for you:

Let us know what they have to say please by posting it back here when you find something out. Thanks and have a great day.

Hi, Fred! The problem was that we can't use onboard webcam, just externals (USB). I didn't look here: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia-system-requirements.html
Thanks your attention!

Your welcome Vitor. Did you contact TechSupport on this? The reason I ask is because I have a Dell 1764 Inspiron running Windows 7 and I have used a Logitech C910 USB Webcam and it worked. But, it also showed me the Internal Webcam and allowed me to use it too in the selections for the Webcam in the Camtasia Studio Recorder PC Version. Are you using the latest version of Camtasia Studio and if not what version are you using. I still am not sure as to why it will not recognize the Internal Webcam. That is why I suggest contacting TechSmith Support or maybe one of the employees will chime in here and explain it. I do not have the same Laptop as you but maybe I am missing something. Let us know and thanks for posting back to let us know. Have a great day and maybe we can all find out what they say or the solution.

Hello and thanks for posting. I would think you would have to have a graphic card in your computer or you would not have been able to take the screenshot image you posted or see anything on your computer monitor without one. But, to let you know sometimes Camtasia and Logitech do not play fair with each other so I would suggest contacting TechSmith Support on this situation. The link is below:

Phone: +1.517.381.2300
Toll Free: 800.517.300
(U.S. & Canada Only)
8:00 AM to 7:00 PM EST Monday through Friday
or

I hope this helps and let us know what they say. Thanks for posting and have a great day.

I am having a similar issue. I can record the webcam in Camtasia 8, but when I switch to the screen recorder, it says webcam not available. I followed the steps above, but as soon as I select the webcam, it intializes it and then turns it immediately back off. I am using a Logitec webcam connected via USB. My labtop is in a docking station, so the integrated webcam isn't ideal.

Its 2017, I am having the same problems and I have not seen a straight forward solution to this problem. Did it ever get resolved for you? What worked?

I found out that Camtasia was having problems coexisting with another webcam app I had installed, called ManyCam.  Even when I made sure manycam wasn't running, merely having it installed on my system at all meant that Camtasia wouldn't use the webcam in the screen recording mode.   ManyCam didn't have any problem with Camtasia... Camtasia was the one with the problem.

I don't know if you're using this but if you have any other app that uses the webcam you may want to try uninstalling it (literally.... just making sure it's not running isn't enough).

Hi
I had a problem with similar symptoms - using a logitech webcam
my solution was to change the Tools | Options | Input | Format to be
RGB24, 1280 x 720 30FPS and then it worked.
Changing 1280x720 to 640x480 definately stopped it again
I didn't fiddle further in the interests of productivity!
